I In this YouTube video I share the story of the little Red Hen and how if we are not careful, we can easily be like the Red Hen's friends when it comes to doing the things God has for us to do. We can want heaven when this life is over, but not want to live each day here for God right now. May that not be so about us. More detailed description of video: Many of us call ourselves Christians. But are we walking in obedience to Christ? Oh, we are quick to say yes, we are Christians, but are we willing to walk the walk and talk the talk and do the work? Or do we just want heaven? It reminds me of the big red hen story. Her friends didn't want to do the work of planting, harvesting, and grinding the grain for flour, but they sure wanted to eat the bread after it was said and done. Isn't that what most Christians want? We don't want the pain, the suffering, denying ourselves, laying down our will and desires for Him, but oh we want the good stuff, and we certainly want heaven when this life is over, thank you very much!! Go into the world and preach the gospel. Nope I'm not a missionary, a teacher, or a preacher so that's no for me. Keep the 10 commandments? Nope, they are done away with. ( Not! ) Deny self, take up our cross and follow Jesus. Sell what we have and give to the poor. Nope, that's for someone else. Here is what Jesus has said concerning these kinds of things. " Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. " Matthew 25:41-46 KJV "And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!" This is a well-known verse, but we often only hear the first part of it, there is more! And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: Deuteronomy 28:13 KJV So many of the blessings and promises that God tells us of in His Word almost say, " to them that love me and keep my commandments." So then why is it we hear people saying the commandments are done away. God never said that. I invite you to listen to this video and draw closer to the heart of God. And receive all God has done for us. For the t- shirt I'm wearing. you can find that on my friend's Etsy shop MutanaTribe www.etsy.com/shop/MutanaTribe?ref=usf_2020 Growing in our relationship with Jesus is an on going process. It's something we do daily. And we have to want God in our lives. And desire and seek after Him with all our being. Our relationship with God does not grow without us doing our part. Seeking Him first. Making Him Lord of our life. Setting aside time to get in His word to read and study, memorize scripture, etc... And establishing a consistent and daily prayer life. Making prayer a top priority in our lives. We have to be purposeful about guarding our hearts and minds making time and space for God in our lives to be fits place. It was previously a blog post, but sharing again so any of you wanting to see what the Bible study was about you can. Who we are in Christ It is so easy to only focus on who we are as fleshly humans. And our own capabilities. But in Christ we are so much more than that.
Who we are in Christ is the things we need to be putting our focus on. Celebrating and embracing who we are in Him. And what we are through Him and because of Him. It will strengthen us, and make us bolder and stronger in the Lord, when we realize who we truly are now, and not who we were. We are anew creation! We are not of this world! We are no longer a slave to sin!! Praise the LORD!! Here below is a list that complied of who we are in Christ with verse references to go with them. Who we are in Christ We are..... - Made in God's image ( Gen 1:27 ) - A child of God ( Romans 8:16-17 ) - Redeemed and washed in His blood ( Romans 5:6-11, 17-19 ) - A new creature in Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 6: 15; Ephesians 4:24 ) - A peculiar people ( 1 Peter 2:9-10 ) - One in Christ ( John 17:21-23 ) - Sons and daughters of our Father ( Romans 8:16 -17 ; Romans 8:14 ; Hosea 10:1 ) - Loved ,accepted, and forgiven ( Hebrew 8:12; John 3:16; Matt. 16:14 ) - No longer a slave to sin ( Romans 6: 5-6 ,9-14,17-19, 22-23 ; 2 Corinthians 5: 17,21 ) - A chosen generation ( 1 Peter 2:9; John 15:16 ) - A royal priesthood ( 1 Peter 2:9 ) - Ambassadors for Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:20 ) - The children of light ( 1 Thessalonians 5:5 ) - Not of this World ( John 17:14-16; John 15:19 ) - Friends of Jesus ( John 15:14 ) - Dead to sin and alive to Christ ( Romans 6: 1-11 ; Colossians 3: 1-4 ) - Not our own ( 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 ) - Bought with a price ( 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ) - A temple of the Holy Ghost ( 1 Corithians 6 : 19-20 ) - Born again ( John 3:1-7 ) Celebrate and embrace who you are in Christ! Your past has nothing on you any longer! Your a brand new creation! AMEN!! (This message and post is from the notes from my first Ladies Bibles study held in our little library on our property. I am so thankful to God for the cozy little space for doing stuff like that.) I felt like what God wanted me to share with you all tonight is that He is sufficient for all our needs, and that we are not to feel inadequate or belittle ourselves. But we are to be bold, strong, confident, and courageous in God! In my attempt and effort to put together a great Bible study for my first one I was diligently praying about it, and practically begging God to clearly show me what it was I was to present and share with the ladies this first time. On one particular evening just 2 days before the Bible study I was out for my evening walk. I was thinking and praying about the Bible study. I said, " Lord I just don't feel ready, and I don't feel equipped for this. Yet I know Lord you have already equipped me with all I need through your Word and the Holy Spirit." I wondered why I felt this way when I knew well God already gave me what I needed. I got thinking who it was that wanted me to think and feel this way. Of course Satan. God does not want me to feel unequipped. He doesn't want me to have these negative thoughts. Then I started thinking of verses in Bible that we can claim and stand on. That we can know without a doubt that God is for us and not against us. That He gave us all we need and in Him we lack nothing! Here is the verses I came up with. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 2 Peter 1:3 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:5-9 God truly does provide 'everything we need' but we need to find it, reclaim it, and then commit to using it the best way we can.
God wants us to seek Him diligently. Put all else aside and depend wholly upon Him and Him alone. Jesus said Seek and you shall find, knock and it will be opened unto you. The problem is we often forget to knock. So let's start seeking and knocking! ~ Remember you have all you need because you are His masterpiece! In Him, Mae |
