Quiet time with the Lord

2/23/2018

About 2 weeks ago I have started setting aside time every morning for a little quiet time with the Lord. I wake up about 7:00 a.m., and providing my one year old Rebecca is not awake and needing to nurse, I go straight to the couch. There I begin with prayer, and then get in to Bible. And I have been loving it!
I spend about a half hour in all. Then I hurry in to the kitchen to get breakfast for my crew, some of which is up by then. In fact sometimes my quiet time has been fairly noisy! Most of them stay in their rooms though when they first wake up. For instance my oldest is up by 6:00 and has his own reading time, and then starts school up in his room. And if his younger brother/roommate is awake he helps Ben start his school  as well. Sam wakes about 7 and starts school in his room too. And the girls usually sleep till I start breakfast. So more often than not I truly do have quite time.

I had heard of other wives and moms who have diligently done this, and they have found that time to be a blessing and a real strength in their spiritual life. But I never did this for my self though, at least not regularly at all. The children and I read the Bible or from their Bible curriculum  every morning before we start school. And I somehow felt that was good enough for my reading too. In the evenings we have either read again from the Bible or from a devotional, missionary story, or other good book.
But out side our family reading times I rarely  read my  on my own. It is not that I didn't want to, but I didn't really feel the necessity of it nor how I would find time for that.  Just recently though I had been inspired to have time with the Lord just for me,  quiet time to read and pray.
I have found it to be a real blessing for me. I look forward to this time each morning to get to dig in God's word and not feel rushed. I can read where ever. If there has been a certain subject on my mind, or a certain book of the Bible or chapter that I want to review more carefully, I can do that.
Sometimes I just skip around, reading some there and some there. Or just reading over my most favorite verses. I have all my favorite verses marked so they are easy to find. I just simply leaf through the Bible finding and reading them. What a comfort and encouragement they are. I also have been putting different of these verses to memory.
It has been wonderful reading and having different verses fresh on my mind through out the day. Recently when I have been discussing spiritual things with my mom and dad, I have been like, " I was just reading over that." It was exciting to have just read the very thing they were talking about. The benefits of getting in to God's Word!

For my prayer time, I do that mostly at night when I climb into bed. I just love getting into bed, and snuggling up and pouring my heart out to God. I always have so much on my mind, and it is such a comfort to pour that out to Him knowing He cares about every little detail of my life.
If you are like me and have not done this regularly before, I highly encourage you to set aside time each day and have some good, and much needed quality quiet time with the Lord. It will be worth it!! And you will be blessed as I have been.

What's happening to the 10 commandments?

2/16/2018

America took the lord's prayer out of the school's years ago, and virtually God all together. Now the 10 commandments are being removed from public places. It is very sad what is becoming to our society.
But if you examine it much, the churches  really are not doing much better in the area of the 10 commandments. Oh, they may have them displayed in their churches alright, but are the commandments being respected, taught and obeyed? Or is it being taught instead that we are no longer to keep the law, that the law was done away with, ect..?

What about the 4th commandment for instance?
Exodus 20:8-11

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is thesabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
This commandment is being completely ignored by most churches today. And why? I have no clue, because the commandments of God were never changed, and Jesus in himself said that He never came to do away with the law, but to full fill it. ( Matthew 5: 17-19 )

And what about the 7th commandment? Thou shalt not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14
Is not divorce and remarriage condoned in a lot of churches?
This should no be so among people that profess the faith.
In Deuteronomy 5:29 we read, "Oh that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!"
This is God's words. And notice God used the word always. The commandments wasn't just for the people of the Old Testament or only until Jesus , it was for always. Always. For His people. Forever.

It is time for God's people to take seriously the word's of God. It is time to turn their hearts back to Him. To truly love Him, and love His commandments. To love God is to obey Him.
~ May you love God with all your heart, soul, and mind!

God wants to be in your life!

2/14/2018

God wants not only to be in your life, but in every part of it - every day and every way!

Picture

God wants to be in your every day!
He wants to be on your lips, on your mind, and in your heart.
He wants to be the in the decisions you make. The places you go, and the things you do.
He wants to be your Help, your comfort, and your strength.
He wants to be a part of your conversations. In your children's school. And the songs you sing them.
He wants to be in your homes. In your work place.
He wants to be in the music you listen to, the books you read, and the movies you watch.
May He be the one we go to each morning thanking Him for the new day, and the last thought on our mind as we drift off to sleep at night.
Let's make God a part of our every day in very way.

I am disappointed of course. I had high hopes of this retreat. I had felt it would be a great time of blessing an encouragement for ladies like my self who had experienced a tragic loss. and I personally was eagerly looking forward to the retreat. I was anxious to hear the messages our speaker had planned for us.
But I am trying very hard to trust and rest in the Lord in this. I feel very confident that I can rest assured that the retreat would have turned out if it truly was God's will. Also I know when one door closes another one opens! So now I eagerly wait to see what God will do next in my life.

Just announcing that we had to sadly cancel our ladies retreat we had been planning the past months. I am very sorry for any of you who may have wanted to come. But there was just a lack of interest. We were only 4 weeks to go till retreat time, and we had not one registration yet.

I have other things that I can throw my time into for now. I am in the process of writing a couple of gospel tracts that I will have that our family will  be able to pass out to anyone on our travels, and or going to town, ect.. I am very excited about that. Also now I will have more spare time to finish up volume 2 of my book, As For Me and My House.
And I want to continue to be an encouragement here on my blog to any one who happens to be reading. I want to be an encouragement to you in your spiritual walk, in your mothering, and if you have experienced the loss of a child as we have. If you would like to contact me and share or chat about things in your life, I would love to hear form you, and will reply back to you as soon as I can. I am a busy homeschooling mommy of eight though. But i still seem to manage time to be on here.
Until next time,

We grief, but not with out hope. In Christ we have hope.
In Christ we know that though our son has passed on and his home no longer is here with us, he is now in his forever home with Jesus! And that is so beautiful!!
Of course we miss him like crazy! But we know this here  earth is only our temporary home. We are just passing through. And our son Clayton has made it safely through to the other side! He has gone on home to be with his Lord! He is done in his temporary home and now is celebrating in his forever home! And one day we will join him there too! That is our hope!
May you have this same hope as well!
