Let's not be lukewarm

This has really been on my mind lately; individuals who have a half hearted walk with God or lukewarm Christians.

A lukewarm Christian is someone who claims to be a believer in Jesus but does not appear to be committed to Christ, attends church occasionally, rarely reads the Bible, and dabbles in the sinful things of the world. They may have made the confession as stated in Romans 10:9-10, but that is as far as it has gone. God does not affect their day to day life, and they appear to be Christian in name only.

It is very sad to see so many Christians living that way especially if they honestly believe they are true heaven-bound Christians. We can see what God thinks of this in the verses in Revelation.
Revelation 3:14-22 ESV
“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. …

Signs that of  a lukewarm Christian.
~ You rarely read the Bible
~ The people around you do not know you  are a Christian
~ Your facebook friends don’t know you are a Christian
~ God is not a part of the decisions you make
~ The plans you make for your life is not based on if it is His will or not
~ God does not affect the choices you make, places you go, the clothes you wear, movies you watch, or books you read
~ God is not the very center of your life
~ God is not a regular part of your conversations
~ You are not daily instructing and guiding your children in the things and ways of God

Those of us who claim to be Christian need to be living in accordance to the teachings of the scriptures. We should continually be seeking God, and be visually growing closer and stronger in the Lord. As the years go by there needs to be obvious growth in our Spiritual life. And for a true Christian there really should be no separation of our spiritual life and the rest of our life. But that is our life. That is who we are. That is our identity. We in Christ and Christ in us.
God is to be the Lord of our lives, the very guide and director of our lives. His Word is the guideline on how we are to live our lives. He is our sole purpose and reason for living.
And when we truly love God with our whole heart and being we will want to please Him in every area of our lives. We become a new creature in Christ, and we put off the old man of who we were before we became a Christian. And we love God more than the things of this world.

1 John 2:15-17  (KJV)15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
Colossians 3: 1- 10 King James Version (KJV)1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

May each one of us who say we are of Christ live up to the name. And may we truly love God with a wholehearted devotion making Him the very center of our lives. Remembering that it is not only the confession we make, but the life we live.
~ Christianity is a lifestyle not a name.

In Him, Mae
