Are you aware of all the benefits of memorizing scripture? I recently have been trying very hard to be more diligent in this department. The last couple of weeks I have managed to memorize Titus 2: 11-14 and Ephesians 4: 23-25. Now this week I am starting with a whole new passage, Colossians 1:9-15. These passages are super amazing! Packed full! As I was going for a walk a couple mornings in a row I took along my paper containing these verses. I would walk and repeat the verses over and over to myself. It was after I had been repeating and repeating these verses that the message really jumped out at me or maybe better put really began to sink in. It was one of those amazing wow moments. Where you go, " Wow, Look at what this verse is saying!" I think it is beautiful how scripture memory has a 2 fold blessing. Not only do you end up with the verse stuck in your head for future recalling or to share with someone. But you also get to seriously examine that particular verse in a way you never did before! It is like camping out in one verse or passage until you get what it is saying to you. It is amazingly powerful! To often when we read those same verses as we are reading through the entire chapter we do not take the time to examine each verse carefully as we can do when we are repeating it over and over for memory. And we don't get all that we should out of our Bible times. So I encourage you to make it a goal of yours to start putting a couple verses to memory every week. I know you will love it as I do! I also I know it is a lot of work, and takes discipline and self will, but the rewards of doing it are just too great not too. ~ Hide God's word in your heart alittle every day and your spirtual life will flourish!
