#5 Hope from the Cemetery video - Giving thanks when we are going through storms and trials in life7/26/2020 Hey there, I'm so glad you stopped by! And Welcome to another video from my Hope From the Cemetery series. This week I talk about finding things to be thankful for in the midst of life's storms and struggles, and how powerful giving thanks can be. ( see more description below the video ) In this video, I read some scripture about how God has instructed us to give thanks in everything. And just how powerful and healing that can be when we are going through tragedies.
We have to take our focus off our problems and put our focus on our heavenly Father and in His goodness and faithfulness. And in doing so we will be at perfect peace. And we will have joy and true happiness that is not based on our circumstances. We have to look more on what we still have and not what we have lost due to our tragedies. The amazing young lady and her family I referred to in the video is the Jen Barrick family. Their ministry is called Hope out Loud. https://hopeoutloud.com/ The Barrick Family have been such an inspiration to me since our loss. I love their testimony and story that has come from the terrible accident. Beautiful to see what God can do with a life that is surrendered to Him. You can view their story here. http://hopeoutloud.com/our-story/ Please feel free to connect here with me on my blog. In Him, Mae

Welcome to my # 3rd in the Hope from the Cemetery with Mae, summer 2020 series. In this one I talk about the story of Joseph in the Bible and how, despite the fact, that many things were going against him for so long, it was all part of the plan and purpose that God had on his life. it's a beautiful story. And I believe God is using our tragedies in the same way. He is working out something beautiful. Just keep trusting, keep praying, keep praising, and keep believing. He is working it out!! In Him, mae Welcome to my second video of the Hope From Cemetery series! In my last video I mentioned that when we are rooted and grounded in Jesus that we can stand strong when hard things come our way in life. In this video I talk about when life gives you more than you can stand kneel. But i'm not saying that only when life is hard is when we hit our knees. No, we need to be leading prayerful lives all the time. Praying without ceasing as Thessalonians 5 says. But sometimes in this broken world we live in life gives us things that really rock our world. And it can makes go before our Father more than ever. And that's good. Kneel before the one who is holding you. Kneel before the one that is holding your today and holding your tomorrow. Kneel before the one who said He would never leave you nor forsake you. He is waiting for you with open arms! May you be blessed and encouraged with this video. Stay tuned for more and please share with anyone that would be blessed too. And He has a plan & a purpose to put to use what you have gone through. There is hope. And there is a better tomorrow. As I stand on the very spot where the quad rolled over on him and he left this earth forever I give you hope and encouragement that in God we still have hope. How I believe God has a plan and a purpose for what He allows to happen in our lives. And that one day we will meet our son again in Heaven. That is the hope we cling to here on earth and what keeps us going strong until we have the joy of joining him one glorious day in heaven. Take care, and may the God of all hope fill you with peace and joy! In Him, Mae Hey you all! Here is the video for my speaking event in Manning, Alberta on March 5th, 2020. The first one of this nature. I feel it went very well, and even though we didn't have very many come out, the ones that did come were really touched by the message and really enjoyed it. I knew most of them there and that helped put me at ease and made me very comfortable and confident behind the mic. And now I am all geared up and excited for the next event on March 24th, 2020. SO if you are in the area and didn't make it to my first event you will want to plan to make for this one. It's going to be a great evening of encouragement and inspiration! Maybe you are facing circumstances that seem unfair, or a loss that seems unbearable. We are going to focus on the goodness of God and the hope and peace that comes from a deep faith and trust in Him. And how God uses the bad things that happened to us for our good and His glory. In Him, Mae Here is part 2 of my video series, There is still Hope for Your Dreams. I Don't know your story, I don't know what you are going through. Nor what dreams may be laying shattered at your feet right now because of what has happened your life. But I know my God! And He is a faithful God, who loves you more than words can ever express. And He wants you to know there is still hope for your dreams! God restores shattered dreams and heals broken hearts. And He was great plans for your life to put to use the things that happened in your life for your good and His glory. In Him, Mae Hey there. I'm going into 2020 grateful and blessed, saying goodbye to fear, and excited about what God has for me in this new year and for the future in general! How about you? Whatever was in your past, it does not have to taint your future. It does not define you. It does not have a hold on you, your present life, or what is on the horizon for you! Nope. Only God has the say in your life. And He has great things in store for you. Just press in and press on. Say yes to His will and His way in your life! Life is to short to sit on the sidelines. Life is to short to be held back by fear. Life is too short to say, "well maybe next year we will do what it is God has called us to". We don't know how much more time we will have here on earth, and even if we do have more years, maybe the one we are too reach out to does not. So may we live in a sense of urgency about spreading God's Word, and urgency about showing and speaking His Love, and giving His hope to a hurt and lost world. We need to not only be ready our selves for His coming but make sure we are doing all we can to make sure those around us are as well. To do our part anyway. Hoping you are going into 2020 grateful too! And may you be richly blessed in God. Enjoy this video! And share it with others! In Him, Mae Renfroe www.lightsforjes.com Hey here is our latest podcast episode. In this episode we talk about death and dieing. Death and dieing is a very real part of life. But it's still so very hard when the ones we love are snatched away so suddenly and unexpectedly. We are never ready to loose those we love, but in Christ we can still have hope. And we can go on with life with joy and peace knowing that God holds all life in His hands and with Him there is no accident. May you be encouraged with the Bible verses we share about death and those that die in Christ, and our message of hope. Below the podcast is 25 Comforting Bible Verses about Death for Those Dying in Christ, some of which we used in the podcast. May you be blessed and encouraged! In Him, Mae Renfroe
Comforting Bible Verses about Death for Those Dying in Christ
Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:51-57 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 1 Corinthians 2:9 What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him. Revelation 1:17-18 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” Revelation 14:1 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” Romans 14:7-9 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. Philippians 1:21-23 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Peter 1:23-25 …You have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” Job 1:21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” Comforting Bible Verses about Death from the Psalms Psalm 16:8-11 I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 34:4-5 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea. Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 73:25-26 Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 149:6 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. We have had 3 deaths in our family in less than 3 years, (our 14 year-old son on April 19th, 2017, my Dad on Oct. 6, 2018, and my brother Lee on Dec.22, 2019) , so death and dying has been on our minds a lot lately. I have looked up verses on this subject, and found 25 comforting verses about death and those dying in Christ, and have them listed here. My daughters and I will be doing a podcast on this as well in the near future. May you find these verses comforting and encouraging. Your world is not falling apart, it's falling into place!
It truly is! I know this may be hard to see or believe at the time if you are going through something really hard in your life and in all appearances your world and life is completely falling apart. As we felt after the death of our son in April 2017. But we humans can only see the small picture. If we could only see what God can see! This is only a stepping-stone to what great things He has in store for you and I. We all know the story of Joseph in the Bible. He was sold into slavery by his very own brothers. If this wasn't bad enough, he later was thrown into prison and under false accusations no less. Talk about his world falling apart! But that is not the end of the story! Turns out this was part of God's great plan for his life, so that he could do something mighty for many nations including his very own brothers. Because of him being at that place at that time he saved many from starving in the seven years of famine. This verse in Genesis 50: 19-20 sums it all beautifully! "And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." Wow! That which was meant for evil, God turned it into something beautiful for His glory! ( There is many for such similar stories in the Bible as well.) Don't you just love how God does that! Joseph certainly had all the right in the world to believe his world was falling apart. But we know how the story ends! His world was not falling apart, it was just falling into place! Glory be to God! And that is the same for you and I too! These hard things in life that we can not understand why, are getting us to where God wants us. He has a plan we can not see. And that plan is greater than anything we could ever hope for or imagine. I am getting excited just thinking about it! God is going to do great things through you and I! Please believe that! He is going to turn our pain into purpose! Our tragedies into triumphs! Our tears into joy! Our setbacks into a break through! Our wounds into beauty marks! Our sorrows into serving! All for His glory and to save many! Halleluiah, Jesus wins! So when you think your world is falling apart, trust God that it's really not, but that it is just falling into place. In Him, Mae P.S. If you have not made God the Lord of your life yet. If He is not the very center of your life or your personal saviour. May this be your moment. Today is your day! He is waiting for you. And if you need someone to talk to besides our all knowing and all loving God please contact me, I would love to hear from you. I would love to help you to make this big step, or just be there for you in your difficult time. Lovingly, Mae
The morning started out a bit rough for me though. As I was thinking about our evening we had planed for Nathan, and started preparing for and anticipating that event, I had a lot of emotions going on. Excited for Nathan, but of course thinking about our dear son, Clayton, and so also quite sad and feeling down. Knowing that not only would Clayton not be here to be apart of this special moment for Nathan, but that he ( Clayton ) also would not be having this special moment himself at all. I had already previously said to some of my family that I already considered Clayton graduated though. So I had to rework that through my mind again to console my self. That no, Clayton would not be having a graduation as Nathan from 12 years of schooling and at the usual graduating age, but he did graduate from school just the same, at the tender age of 14 from grade 8. And not only did Clayton graduate from school, but he successfully graduated from this life here in this old, broken temporary world, to his new beautiful heavenly home -- his forever Home to be forever with the Lord. Where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, no more tears, no more sin, and no more death. Now that is the ultimate graduation! He successfully made it through, completed his life and all that the Lord had for him here, though short it was, and now is resting with the Lord, worshiping with the angels, and proudly wearing his graduation crown! Way to go Clayton! We look forward to joining you one day! ( Your mom just wishes she could give you a big hug & a loving pat on the back right now though) While I was feeling down and thinking this all through I just felt I needed to talk to my mom. Some how just talking to her is just what I need to make it through a rough moment like that. So I called her up. And soon as she says hello I told her that I forgot to mention to her last night when we spoke that we were having Nathan's graduation dinner today. I could hardly get those words out without choking up. I said, "I am thinking about Clayton how he is not here, and that he won't be graduating like Nathan, but I also feel he already did before Nathan." She understood. And she agreed with me. And gave me words of encouragement, hope, and comfort. We talk for awhile, me crying, and her comforting me. And then we get off. I go about writing a message for Nathan in the grad card I bought for him. After that I am feeling better, and go into the kitchen to get busy cooking and baking. By late afternoon all is well with me, and all is set and ready for a special evening for Nathan. Of course I had to phone my mom later that night to tell her about our great evening. And she shared my joy, wishing that they could have been here with us though. So in saying we have our 2 oldest sons graduated now. One completed with school and headed off soon to work at Riverside Bible camp for the summer in far off Canada, as well as what ever else the Lord has for him and his life. And our other one, completed with this life and now safely off in his forever Home with the Lord. Sure, it is all bitter sweet. But it is what it is. And sometimes we just have to look on things with a little different perceptive. What ever it takes to make it through what we have been given in life. Because we know our God makes no mistakes. There is no accidents with Him. Though we can not understand why we know this was apart of the His plan for our lives. And so no matter how hard it may be for me to say this, " I wouldn't desire it to be any other way." To God be the glory, honor,& praise for ever and ever! Amen! In Him, Mae P.S. If you are a mother that has just recently lost a child, I understand that you may find it hard to see and feel my perceptive of how I view our son, Clayton, as graduated. Know that I could never have felt this way any sooner. It would have been too hard on me to feel that way earlier on. Now though that is has been over a year, the pain has lessened some and so I can honestly feel happy for Clayton. But it still hurts - a lot. That is why it was so hard for me that morning as I mentioned, and as I was writing the above piece tears were very close to the surface. Maybe this is not the way others may want to look at it with their loss, but it does and has helped me. So I am sharing in case it may be an encouragement and blessing to you and your situation.
Remember if you need someone to chat with please leave me a message in the contact box, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. That is what my blog and I are here for! :)
I had meant to write this post several months ago but just never managed to do it. Now it is nearly a year since our son Clayton's quad accident when he went home to be with the Lord. Shortly after we had lost our son, I had written down on a note paper about all the things that we seen that clearly pointed to him. So I am writing this now reflecting back over that time. It is hard not to have all these memories and thoughts going through my head as the first anniversary of his death draws near. Everywhere we looked we seen you, our dear son. Your school books laying on your bed, that you were working on that day, with your pencil neatly beside them. The pile of trash in the back of the truck you cleaned out of that little shed so you could sleep out there this summer. Down in the basement were your little seedlings you had started in planter pots, which later I transplanted out in the garden for you. The items you wanted and had written on the shopping list on the fridge that we were to get for you the next day in town. The shelve in the utility room where you kept all your goodies from pocket knives to pocket change, from hockey tape to hunting supplies. And on the calendar for the month of June you had written in pencil on the 14th day, "My 15th B-day", which I found a couple weeks after you had passed on. And the stuff you ordered on E-bay from China started arriving package by package with in a couple months. Your clothes that went through the laundry. Everywhere we looked, outside and in, we couldn't help but see you. Your psychical presence no longer with us, but there was much evidence of you still. You always will be forever a real part of our lives. You touched us with your amazing love and life for nearly 15 years, and you will always be in our memories and in our hearts. Till we meet again. And as I look back over this year, our first year with out our son, I see that is just the way it is with God too. God is everywhere we look. He has been with me and my family every step of the way on the new journey we are on. In my pain and sorrow He is there holding my hand. Giving me joy. Giving me peace. Giving me the strength to keep going when I just don't feel like it. Giving me hope that though we have lost our son from our home here, I know he is now in his forever home waiting on us. Everywhere I look I see our Heavenly Father. His loving presence letting me know that He knows my hurts, He sees my tears, and He cares. In the timely and caring words of a friend. And in my 3 month old sweetest smile during the time of my rawest grief. I would smile back at her through my tears and say, " You are just here for my joy aren't you"? Nothing just happens to those who love Him, that I know for His Word tells me so, but all things work out for good who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I still hurt like crazy some days, but I still know my God is with me and for me. Even though we will never be the same again with our eight precious children here around us. I know He makes no mistakes, and He called our dear son Home for a reason. When I open His Word and longing read His Scriptures His love pours off the pages and into my heart. I hear Him say, " I love you my child, and I have a great plan for you." I am right with you, for I will never leave you or forsake you." ~Lord help me to trust you more and leave everything in your caring and capable hands. To you my reader, I don't know your story and what you may be going through right now, but I know my God and I know He is big enough to handle what ever it is. He loves you and cares for you. If your heart is breaking He can heal it and help you through or around your problem, and give you peace and joy again. If your marriage is broken he can help you resolve, or help you to move on. You don't have to remain broken. Let Him be your help. He is our hope to restoration, new life, everlasting peace and joy. Call on Him today. He is waiting for you! His arms are open wide for you to run into them. So stop running from Him, and run into Him instead. I just can't help but reminisce about my awesome, good-looking son of ours. God blessed us with Clayton for nearly 15 years. He will always be a big part of us. Tomorrow now it will be 6 months that he has left our home and went to be with the Lord. This time last year I was taking him ( Clayton ) out hunting about every other morning, and then again in the evenings, as well some days. He loved deer hunting and last fall of 2016 he manged to get us 3 deer. He was pretty pleased with him self! He would get up early and do some school work,. Then we'd eat breakfast, and hurry out when it was just coming light and go to his favorite spot and look for deer. We made different of those trips with no luck, but he was determined just the same and on other other occasions we did better! We would drive in at our spot bumping along over the field ruts on our way. Him scanning the tree line and ridges in the field on the out-look for deer, and me holding my big growing stomach with one hand and steering with the other. I did not exactly enjoy it, being a good 6 months pregnant with our newest baby. But some how I was o.k with it, and it was a nice time just the same all in all. A new day would come and he would be all smiles and like, "Ready to go hunting mom?" I would reluctantly say, "I guess so." And off we would go again. I did not enjoy it as much as he did. But am I ever glad and thankful for those memories now. I guess God knew what it would mean to mean later. He would see a deer, and if we were driving, I would quickly stop, h'ed jump up standing on the seat and out of the window, hold his gun out across the truck roof take aim, and shoot! What a kid!! What a hunter! Other times we would just sit in the truck together talking while we waited for a deer to come in to view. Then when we were done, depending where we were in the field if he felt that I was not as good at navigating out way out again he would offer to drive us. And so we would change places and off we would go, with me holding my stomach even more so! :) I was trying hard to be a lot more careful. But all so good of memories now!
Hundreds of children are dying of starvation and incurable diseases in many areas of the world on a daily basis. Could you, as a parent, imagine watching your child suffer and die like that? And then there is the children dying that have been neglected, abused, and unloved. Those children didn't just die peacefully, but in sorrow and agony, and unwanted. Or the children that are from good loving homes but have been kidnaped and killed or have gotten lost in the woods and died that way. How very hard that would be on the parents ( I can not even imagine the grief and pain from that ), and for the children in their last hours before death. And then there is children that is not dying, but living in horrible circumstances day in and day out, living with abuse and neglect, living with parents who are al addicted to drugs and alcohol.
